Public Event #2: Contemporary Societies & Cultural Heritage

On 6 September, the second succesfull public event promoted by the Open Atelier project was organized in Ljublana, Slovenia, on Tromostovje – the Triple Bridge designed in 1929-32 by Jože Plečnik across the Ljubljanica River, shaping an outstanding space in-between the medieval and the modern town. This place was the perfect setting for the initiative, that aimed to tackle and open new perspectives on the connection between contemporary societies and cultural heritage. This task was enhanced through a concert (“Music according to Plečnik’s taste”), performed by violinist Inga Ulokina and pianist Olga Ulokina, that became an occasion not only to promote the interplays among Plečnik’s architecture and music (which he considered a primary expression of the human soul, capable of revealing the most direct secrets of creation), but also to provide an interactive presentation of the Open Atelier project to the hundreds of people that attended the event. All the Partners participated in the initiative, engaging with the public and starting a debate about the potential role of heritage in the present day world.
