Open Atelier Partners: Politecnico di Milano

Politecnico di Milano was established in 1863 and is a leading European university in several disciplines, including architecture. The project is carried out at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU) by the research group in AIMAC (Architettura degli interni, musei, ambiente costruito/Interior Architecture, Museums and Built Environment) working on contemporary theories, methods and design practices related to museography, museum buildings and exhibition spaces, with a particular focus on the relation between tradition and innovation with the support of the dHoc (interior design for hospitable cities) working group of the Politecnico di Milano Design Department.

Museography is understood as a “space of interpretation and knowledge”, not only concerning objects and collections but also architecture, its history and settings, and its connection with the territory and its complex historical and cultural stratifications.

Politecnico di Milano in meant to contribute to the project with explicit and unique knowledge in developing new innovative methods related to the museum sectors, including co-design practices, that will allow the research group to support the planning and the facilitation of the Open Atelier Formats.
